A framework for collaboration, data sharing, and analysis of Earth Science Data

Speaker

Jeff LeFevre

This talk will discuss a framework for long-term storage, management, and querying of Earth Science data from various disciplines. Our design seeks to create an easy to use, accessible framework for cross-disciplinary collaboration, data sharing, and data analysis of geo-located data used by Earth Science researchers. The data includes satellite imagery, ground-based sensing, ocean-based sensing, animal tracking sensors, UAV, and airborne sensors. The proposed framework has significant technical and non-technical challenges. We will discuss the requirements to meet scientific goals, our initial design work in progress, and the various technical challenges related to storage, access, universality, querying, data integrity and provenance. This work is in collaboration with NASA Ames Research Center.
