Seminar: Firefox Extensions for SSL Usability Study

We are currently researching ways which people perceive internet security. While the average user may not understand exactly what SSL is or does, we want to find ways to express to this user that SSL is important and that they should be using it -- in real time. Our research will focus on browser security, specifically SSL related issues (ie. https, form submits, passwords, etc). We have three phases of our research: 1) SSL Button (a browser extension which has a button for SSL identification on a page); 2) Secure Password (a browser extension which displays passwords to be submitted in clear text in clear text to the user); 3) Usability Study (a study which we will conduct to see if extensions from phase 1 and 2 have any effect on the use of SSL).
