Storage Systems Seminar: Update on the Clinkers project
Sinjoni Mukhopadhyay will give an update on the Clinkers project and an overview of future work that she and Ana McTaggart are planning for Clinkers.
Summary:
Data needs to be split into multiple shards using secret splitting to make it more secure. POTSHARDS uses approximate pointers to decide which shards go together. The main problem with this is that it is easy to implement for a single file but ends up taking too long for a complete datastore. We propose Clinker, a faster method for reconstruction of data using an additional concept of hints, that can take care of this problem.
