Seminar: Automated Log Analysis using Search (Avani Wildani)

Avani Wildani will talk about her summer 2008 work at IBM writing an automated log analysis tool for a consumer focused integrated storage system. Diagnosing log errors quickly and reliably in the field could save consumers hundreds of thousands of dollars in downtime costs. Our log analysis tool focuses on two aspects of log analysis: duplicate matching and component identification. With hierarchical classifications, we can achieve upwards of 75% accuracy matching duplicates. Component accuracy is more subjective, but restricting to components leads directly to improved duplicate classification.
